Stamford,
Conn., January 18, 2005 Pitney Bowes
Inc. (NYSE: PBI) today introduced the DM Infinity™
Series Digital Mailing System, a new family of digital
mailing products for the production mail industry. The
DM Infinity™ Series is the only digital meter
family in the world that can meter up to 22,000 mail
pieces per hour and meet the demanding reliability and
durability requirements of production mailers.
“Production
mailers are under extreme pressure to increase the efficiency
and effectiveness of their customer communications,”
said Patrick Brand, Vice President, Global Strategy,
Product Management and Marketing, Pitney Bowes Document
Messaging Technologies. “The DM Infinity™
Series was designed to enable mailers to produce more
mail in less time with greater results.”
Traditional
digital printing technology requires periodic stoppages
to perform self- maintenance. The DM Infinity™
Series employs an innovative two print head design,
which enables virtually non-stop printing performance
even in the highest production volume environments.
When combined with Pitney Bowes Advanced Productivity
Inserting System (APS), customers can now meter up to
22k mail pieces per hour with one small footprint.
Most
production mailing systems currently utilize multiple
meters to handle high speed mixed weight metering. This
results in a significantly increased footprint and potentially
reduced reliability. The DM Infinity™ Series’
Reset-On-The-Fly™ technology, however, processes
mixed weight mail with one small footprint at up to
18k mail pieces per hour.

About the DM Infinity™ Series
Pitney Bowes’ patented IntelliLink® Technology
combines with the DM Infinity™ Series’ advanced
digital printing capabilities enabling mailers to download
and print messages at the touch of a button. Customers
can now easily enhance the value of mail with personalized
messages, slogans and endorsements, thereby increasing
the effectiveness of customer communications.
New
York Life Insurance Company of Lebanon, New Jersey was
one of several beta sites for the DM Infinity™
Series that recognized its benefits as a result of the
implementation.
"This innovative technology enables us to have
more effective and efficient communications with our
policy holders," said Harry DeHaven Corporate Vice
President, New York Life Insurance Company. "As
a result, this puts us in a place where we can be even
more responsive to satisfying their needs.”
The DM Infinity™ Series is affordable for the
production mail market. Production mailers typically
induct mail under controlled acceptance procedures.
The DM Infinity™ Series leverages a new smaller
indicia for controlled acceptance mail that uses approximately
50% less ink than traditional inkjet metering systems.
Also, through the use of a unique black ink formulation
the DM Infinity™ Series uses less ink per meter
impression while maintaining readability.
Broadly compatible with both existing Pitney Bowes and
competitive production mail inserting systems, the DM
Infinity™ Series enables mailers to continue to
enjoy the benefits of metered mail at higher speeds
and with increased reliability.
The
DM Infinity™ Series fully complies with meter
migration mandates for production mailers in the United
States, which require conversion from mechanical to
digital printing solutions.
The
DM Infinity™ Series includes three models:
