Pitney Bowes Announces Release of
Finalist 7.30 Address Quality Software

New Software Version Helps Mailers Achieve Postal Discounts,
Enhance Mail Deliverability for 2001-2002 USPS CASS Cycle

DANBURY, CT (June 15, 2001) -- Pitney Bowes Inc. (NYSE:PBI), today announced the commercial availability of Finalist 7.30, a versatile address quality software solution that is fully Coding Accuracy Support System (CASS) certified by the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) for the 2001-2002 CASS cycle. Finalist 7.30 will enable mailers to achieve postal discounts and enhance delivery of mail under the new CASS requirements.

"Finalist 7.30 is an important part of Pitney Bowes' initiatives to help mailers attain their address quality goals," says Jeff Stangle, Product Manager for Pitney Bowes docSense, the business unit that develops and supports Finalist. "Using Finalist, mailers will achieve automation mail discounts and ensure reliable delivery of mail to their customers, while complying with the new CASS requirements."

The versatile Finalist 7.30 software is available on both mainframe and workstation platforms. It can also be fully integrated with the most recent release of StreamWeaver print stream engineering software (v.5.2.6), enabling mailers to utilize Finalist "across multiple mail streams without disrupting business applications or print/mail finishing operations," continues Stangle.

"Converging these two key software technologies means mailers can easily cleanse and standardize address data for all customer communications, regardless of their origin within the enterprise, to assure postage discounts and mail deliverability," adds Stangle. Finalist is CASS certified software that cleans, standardizes and codes address data for increased mail deliverability and postal discounts.

Finalist verifies, standardizes and corrects address information, appends ZIP+4, carrier route and delivery point codes, and provides all necessary documentation for automated handling through the USPS.

StreamWeaver is print stream engineering software that analyzes and enhances print-ready documents to facilitate advanced print and mail finishing strategies for both hard copy and Internet communications. It allows print-ready files from a range of business applications to be changed and enhanced without interrupting document processing operations.
